Fact-check policy
Last updated 1 June 2026
People act on what they read here, so getting the facts right matters. This is how we check our work.
Primary sources first
For rules and figures we rely on official sources, such as the MGNREGA portal and government notifications, rather than second-hand summaries.
Big claims need strong proof
For major changes, like a new law replacing MGNREGA, we confirm the claim against multiple credible reports and the official record before we present it as fact. Where something is still proposed rather than final, we say so.
Numbers carry a caveat
Wage rates and similar figures change yearly. We mark them as indicative and tell readers to confirm the live figure on the official portal.
