Editorial policy

Our guides exist so someone can finish a task on an official portal without paying an agent for help that should be free. This policy explains how they are made and what rules we hold ourselves to.
How we research
We work from notifications issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, government circulars, and what the official portals publish, including archived copies of portal pages. We do not claim to have walked through every screen live: portal layouts change, and where we cannot confirm a step or a figure we say so and point you to your gram panchayat or block office instead. Where a scheme is run under a different name by a state, we say so, because that mismatch is a common reason people think a guide does not apply to them.
How we write
- Plain language, short paragraphs, and a Hindi summary on the guides that need one.
- The answer near the top, not buried under a long introduction.
- Real specifics over filler. If a section has nothing useful to add, we cut it.
- No invented statistics, contacts, office addresses or scheme dates, ever.
- We write for someone on a low-end phone with a weak connection, not for a search engine.
What we will not do
We do not publish pages that exist only to catch search traffic. In August 2026 we removed several hundred near-identical location pages for that reason, and later set aside our state pages from search while they were rebuilt, because they were largely one template with the name swapped. Losing that traffic was the right trade. A page that adds nothing should not exist, whatever it earns.
Who writes these
Guides are written and edited by Karan Sharma, who is a writer and editor, not a government officer. Nobody here holds any position in any department, and nothing published here can create a job card, change a record or release a payment. Only your gram panchayat and nrega.dord.gov.in can do that.
How we review and update
Every guide carries an updated date. When a rule, wage rate or portal screen changes, we revise the affected pages rather than leaving an old page to drift, and where a change is significant we add it to the updates page. Facts are checked against the rules in our fact-check policy, which includes saying plainly when something cannot be confirmed.
Independence
Advertising pays for hosting and research, and that is all it does. No advertiser chooses what we cover, how we describe a scheme, or what we leave out. We have no arrangement with any agent, middleman or service that charges for government work, and we say repeatedly throughout the site that these services are free, which is not a message such businesses would sponsor.
Tell us when we are wrong
If a guide is out of date or a step no longer matches the portal, tell us through the contact page. Corrections are the cheapest way to keep this site worth reading, and a reader who has just been through the process usually knows before we do.
