NREGA payment status: check your wages and DBT online
By Ravi Prakash · Updated 12 June 2026 · 6 min read
Method 1: the MGNREGA payment report
- Open the reports section and choose your state, district, block and gram panchayat.
- Open the financial or payment report for workers.
- Find your name or card number to see the wage amount and the payment status.
Method 2: PFMS
PFMS is the government's payment tracking system. If you know your bank account or your Aadhaar-linked details, you can check whether a DBT credit has been processed against them. This is useful when the panchayat report shows the wage as paid but you want to confirm the bank credit.
Wages should be paid within 15 days of the work being completed. If payment is delayed beyond that, you are entitled to a small compensation under the law.
Common reasons for a delay
- Aadhaar not linked to your bank account, or a mismatch in the name.
- Bank account not seeded with NPCI for DBT.
- Muster roll or measurement not yet entered by the worksite staff.
- A technical hold in the payment batch.
Frequently asked questions
How long should wages take?
Wages are due within 15 days of completing the work. A longer delay entitles you to compensation under the Act.
Why does it say paid but money has not come?
The wage may be sent but held at the bank stage, often due to Aadhaar seeding or NPCI mapping issues. Check PFMS and confirm your bank details.
Do I need to link Aadhaar?
Aadhaar-based payment is widely used now. Keeping your Aadhaar linked and your bank NPCI-mapped avoids most payment holds.
