What is changing in this scheme, explained without the hype. Each entry says what actually changed and links to the guide that explains it in full.
1 जुलाई 2026 से MGNREGA की जगह VB-G RAM G लागू है। तीन चीज़ें सीधे आप पर असर डालती हैं: काम की गारंटी 100 से बढ़कर 125 दिन हुई, मज़दूरी की नई दर लागू हुई जिसमें कोई भी राज्य ₹300 प्रति दिन से नीचे नहीं है, और आपका पुराना verified job card transition तक चलता रहेगा। नया card बनवाने के लिए किसी को पैसे देने की ज़रूरत नहीं है।
Recent changes
MGNREGA was replaced on 1 July 2026, but existing verified cards, registrations and pending wages carry over. A new card, when it is issued, is free at the panchayat. Anyone asking for money to make one is cheating you.

Alongside the new Act, revised rates took effect on 1 July 2026 with an interim floor of Rs 300 a day. Every state that was below that was raised to it, and states already above it also went up. Haryana is highest at about Rs 409, and the national average rose from roughly Rs 298.8 to Rs 327.4.
Works can pause during sowing and harvest so farm labour is available. The 125-day guarantee itself is not reduced by the pause.
The new law raises the work guarantee from 100 to 125 days and shifts part of the wage cost to the states. A plain, sourced summary of what changes for workers.
New financial year lists are appearing panchayat by panchayat. If your name is missing, check the year selector first, because that is the most common reason.
R1 to R7 reports now show 2025-26 data for most panchayats.
Attendance at community worksites is marked in the NMMS app with geo-tagged photos twice a day. If the afternoon photo is missed, that day can be cancelled even if the morning one was uploaded.
Changes that affect finding your own record
These are not scheme rule changes, but they are the reason a search can come back empty even when nothing is wrong with your household record. States redraw district boundaries from time to time, and an older record stays filed under whatever the district was called then.

How we decide what goes here
Scheme news travels fast and a lot of it is wrong, especially around a change this big. So this page only carries things confirmed against the official record or multiple credible reports, as set out in our fact-check policy. Where a rule is announced but the detail is not published yet, we say that instead of filling the gap with a guess.
One example on this page: the extra days granted to some households, such as Scheduled Tribe families holding Forest Rights Act land, were framed when the guarantee was 100 days. Nothing published states how those extra days sit on top of the new 125-day base, so our guides do not do that arithmetic and tell you to confirm your own total with the panchayat instead.
