What PMAY-U is
PMAY-U stands for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban. It started in 2015 to help city households that do not own a proper home. Where PMAY-G covers villages, PMAY-U covers towns and cities through urban local bodies.
Who is eligible: income groups
Eligibility is based on income groups, broadly the Economically Weaker Section, Low Income Group and Middle Income Group. PMAY-U works through a few routes rather than one.
