VB-G RAM G Act 2025: what it means for MGNREGA workers

December 2025 में Parliament ने VB-G RAM G Act पास किया — एक नया कानून जो बीस साल बाद MGNREGA की जगह लेगा। पूरा नाम है Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)। यह साफ summary है कि क्या बदल रहा है और workers को क्या करना चाहिए।
VB-G RAM G work guarantee को 125 दिन तक बढ़ाता है और weekly wages तथा ज़्यादा digital monitoring लाता है। इसे President की मंज़ूरी मिल चुकी है और 2026 में लागू होने वाला है। Verified job cards transition के दौरान valid रहेंगे।
What the new law does
The Act restructures India's rural employment guarantee. The headline change is more guaranteed days of work. It also brings a faster wage cycle and heavier use of digital tools to monitor works and attendance.

Opposition members objected to dropping Mahatma Gandhi's name, to making states fund part of the scheme, and to seasonal pauses in work. The law passed despite these objections.
What workers should do now
- Keep your job card active and your details correct.
- Make sure your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account.
- Check that your bank account is NPCI-mapped for DBT.
- Watch for official instructions from your gram panchayat about the change.
