NREGA unemployment allowance: what you get if work is not provided

MGNREGA एक guarantee है, एहसान नहीं। अगर आप विधिवत काम मांगते हैं और panchayat पंद्रह दिन में काम नहीं देती, तो आपको कानूनन unemployment allowance का अधिकार है। ज़्यादातर लोग इसे claim ही नहीं करते क्योंकि steps नहीं पता, तो वे यहां हैं।
लिखित में काम मांगें और dated receipt रखें। अगर 15 दिन में काम न मिले, तो आप उन दिनों का unemployment allowance पाने के हकदार हैं।
Why this right exists
The whole point of the scheme is a guarantee of work on demand. The unemployment allowance is what makes the guarantee real. If the system fails to give you work, it must pay you anyway.
How to claim it, step by step
- Apply for work in writing at your gram panchayat. A simple application naming the adults who want work is enough.
- Insist on a dated receipt for your application. This receipt is your proof.
- Wait for work to be allotted. The clock is 15 days from your dated demand.
- If no work is given within 15 days, apply for the unemployment allowance, attaching your receipt.
Without a dated receipt for your work demand, it is hard to prove when the 15 days started. Always get it.
How much you get
The allowance is a portion of the wage rate for the days you waited beyond the deadline, as set by the rules. Your state decides the exact rate within the framework, so confirm the current figure with your gram panchayat or on the official portal.
